Photo Contest

United Cerebral Palsy's Cute As Can Be Photo Contest will be held Aug 26-28. Participating families should visit Bel Air Mall between 10am and 7pm and enter their child through 12 years of age for $5. The entry fee includes a complimentary 5x7 color photofraph by instant Photo Corporation of
America. Photos will be on display at the mall from Sep 9-12 for voting. One dollar equals 100 votes, and all funds raised benefit UCP's programs for children and adults with disabilities. For more information call Marty Wheeler at 251-479-4900.



Harley Davidson cancer benefit

Mobile Bay Harley Davidson is teaming up with the American Cancer Society for a fundraiser from 9am to 6pm on Sept.18 at Mobile Bay Harley Davidson, 3260 Pleasant Valley Rd. Featured entertainment will be a bike show. Registration on the day of the event will be $5. Votes are $1 donation. Other events include a blood drive, performances by stunt rider Bubba Blackwell, and demonstrations by Mobile Police and the HOG Chapter, including free hotdogs and drinks. Angel Tree registration

Registration for the Salvation Army's 2010 Angel Tree Program will be Sept 15-17 and 20-24 at The Salvation Army's Citadel Corps, 3200 Pl;easant Valley Rd in Mobile. Registration will be held from 9am to 3:30pm each day. An evening registration will be Sept 21 and 23 from 5-8pm. A total of 125 families each will be assisted each day and 50 families for each evening registration, using a first-come, first-served number system; numbers will be distributed daily beginning at 6am. Parents will only be allowed to register for their immediate family. Call 251-438-1625 and ask to be transferred to the Angle Tree information line. Feast for a Beast

Seafood Feast for a Beast, a benefit luncheon for the American Heart Association will be held on Sept 24 on the campus of Springhill Medical Center, 3719 Dauphin St from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The cost is $10 per person; includes fried fish, fried shrimp, stuffed crabs, gumbo, fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw, baked beans, peach cobbler, and a beveraage, plus live entertainment by Lil Greenwood and Jim Armstrong.
