United Cerebral Palsy's Cute As Can Be Photo Contest will be held Aug 26-28. Participating families should visit Bel Air Mall between 10am and 7pm and enter their child through 12 years of age for $5. The entry fee includes a complimentary 5x7 color photofraph by instant Photo Corporation of
America. Photos will be on display at the mall from Sep 9-12 for voting. One dollar equals 100 votes, and all funds raised benefit UCP's programs for children and adults with disabilities. For more information call Marty Wheeler at 251-479-4900.

HERBY DERBY
How fast is your hamster? Children are invited to bring their pet hamsters and gerbils to B&B Pet Stop’s 9th Annual Herbie Derby, a hamster and gerbil race to benefit the Mobile County Public Schools.. Race festivities will take place on Sept. 18 at B&B’s facility, located at 5035 Cottage Hill Road. Registration will be held at 2 p.m. There is an entry fee of $5 per pet on the day of the event or $4 per pet in advance. Races will begin at 3 p.m. Plastic balls for the hamsters may be brought from home, purchased at B&B Pet Stop, or rented on race day for $5 with all fees collected going to the Mobile County Public Schools. In addition, “Herbie”, the giant hamster mascot of Hagen “HabiTrail”, will be on hand to meet the children and take pictures. Hagen makes the plastic balls and small animal habitats. Commander Phillip "endel" Lee, who has had a distinguished career as a U.S. Navy chaplain, will be the speaker for the September dinner and meeting of the Military Officers Association of America at the Heron Lakes Country Club on Thursday at 6:30pm.
