Niantic just ended up proving that Android updates have a lot of issues with discoverability

Niantic recently tweeted:

 “encourage you to update [your] operating systems to Android 5 or above for uninterrupted access to Ingress and Pokémon GO.”

The company is now cutting all its access to the popular games at around 7 percent of all Android users according to the latest Android Distribution numbers which were released in the month of May. The percent might look small but 7 percent of 2.5 billion is a big number.

Everyone who keeps an eye on this site on a day to day basis knows that it’s not so much simple. The best response in Android 5, which is popularly known as Android Lollipop and was released in the year 2014. It has long been surpassed by Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo, and Pie. The latest version will soon be out known as the Android Q.

People don’t have a clear idea about what version of Android phone they use. People have the tendency to get the cheapest phone irrespective to what version it is running on. The Android version is very important when it comes to the speed of the MediaTek chip or the Snapdragon chip. It takes a lot of space and power in the processor when a person ends up upgrading their operating system on their phone.
