Compare FSFLAG and Cobb Promo barber flag kits, then check height, pole fit, mounting bases, readability and placement before buying.

A useful barber flag has a readable message, the right pole and a safe place to stand. For a shop starting from scratch, a complete kit is usually simpler than buying a replacement banner and discovering that the pole does not fit. Two options worth comparing are FSFLAG’s 11-foot barber kit and Cobb Promo’s taller white Barber Shop kit.

This guide compares their published specifications and the practical buying decisions that matter. It does not claim that either flag has been wind-tested by us or that putting one outside will guarantee more customers.

Two barber flag kits to compare

Kit Why consider it Important limit
FSFLAG 11-foot Barber Shop kit Smaller overall format with a carry bag Included ground stake needs suitable ground; not a hard-surface base
Cobb Promo white Barber Shop kit, NSFB-5682 Approximately 15-foot assembled display Greater clearance needed; pavement mounting needs a compatible separate base

FSFLAG 11-foot Barber Shop kit: a straightforward complete set

FSFLAG’s manufacturer page describes a polyester banner, an aluminum-and-fiberglass pole system, a ground stake and a carry bag. It lists the display at approximately 11 feet tall and 2.1 feet wide. The matching Amazon listing identifies model FS-SWBS and UPC 779880499111.

The included bag is useful if you will bring the sign in each evening or transport it between locations. Choose this format when a very tall display would be awkward around an awning, tree canopy or neighboring sign.

Trade-off: the kit’s ground stake does not make it ready for a concrete sidewalk. Confirm the actual assembled dimensions and mounting instructions, and obtain a manufacturer-compatible weighted base if your approved display location is paved. Broad weather-resistance language is not a published wind-speed rating.

Cobb Promo white Barber Shop kit: for a taller display

Cobb Promo’s NSFB-5682 package contains a Barber Shop flag, a pole kit and a ground spike. The brand’s Amazon offer lists a roughly 12-foot banner and 15-foot pole. North State Signs lists the same part number and UPC, describing approximately 15 feet of assembled height.

This is worth considering when there is sufficient vertical clearance and a taller message suits the permitted location. Its extra height also makes measuring the site more important. Check the space above the sign as well as the ground footprint.

Trade-off: the included spike is intended for an appropriate soil or grass location. The dealer advises upright installation, clearance from objects that could fray the fabric, and bringing the flag indoors during strong winds or harsh weather. Do not treat a large banner as a permanent all-weather structure.

Choose the location before choosing the height

Stand at the proposed spot and look back toward the shop. Then view it from the direction customers normally approach, using a safe pedestrian location. The useful question is whether people can connect the words on the flag with your entrance. A large sign hidden behind parked vehicles may be less helpful than a smaller, well-positioned one.

Check the property’s sign rules and any applicable local requirements before ordering. Restrictions can differ for temporary signs, public sidewalks, rights-of-way and shopping-center common areas. A product photo showing a flag at a curb is not permission to install yours there. Ask the property manager and relevant local office if the boundary or permitted position is unclear.

  • Keep the entrance, accessible route and exit clear.
  • Allow space for the fabric and pole to move without touching cars, windows or people.
  • Keep the entire assembly well away from overhead electrical lines.
  • Avoid obstructing drivers’ sightlines at driveway exits or intersections.
  • Account for the base and any ballast, which also take up floor space.

Flag only, complete kit or replacement hardware?

Buy a complete kit if you do not already own a compatible pole and base. Read the package contents carefully: “kit” sometimes means a flag and pole without the mounting base you need.

Buy a flag only when the existing hardware is sound and the seller confirms compatibility. Match the banner shape, sleeve length, pole curvature and attachment method. Two products described as “12 foot” can still use different pole systems, and flag height is not always the assembled display height.

Replace hardware separately only when the exact mating dimensions and intended use are known. Do not improvise by forcing a sleeve onto a larger pole, shortening structural sections or using a base simply because the pole fits into its opening. Obtain the supplier’s matching part or a complete replacement system.

Readability and printing details

For a first sign, “Barber Shop” is a direct message. Extra phrases are useful only when they are accurate and legible at the viewing distance. Do not choose “Walk-ins Welcome” if your shop normally operates by appointment only.

Check whether the artwork is printed on one side with reverse show-through or uses a true double-sided construction. If people approach from both directions, ask to see photographs of both faces. Also compare the lettering against the actual background at your storefront. A busy fence or neighboring display can compete with a design that looked clear on a white product page.

Care and replacement costs

Budget for the whole setup: banner, pole, correct base, specified ballast and eventual replacement fabric. Inspect seams, sleeves, pole joints and the base regularly. Bring the display indoors when the maker advises, let wet fabric dry before storage, and follow its cleaning directions rather than assuming it is machine-washable.

For most shops, the sensible choice is the smallest complete system that remains readable from the intended approach and fits the approved site. Choose the FSFLAG kit when a more compact display and carry bag fit that plan; consider the Cobb Promo kit when the additional height is useful and you have measured the clearance.
