TRUGLO TFX Pro: Model Fit, Features and Buying Checks

Identify TRUGLO TFX Pro sights, verify exact model fit and package contents, and understand MOS exclusions, illumination, and warranty limits.

“Tru Glow TFX Pro” usually refers to TRUGLO TFX Pro, a family of handgun sights combining tritium and fiber-optic illumination. The product family has multiple fitments, so the essential purchase detail is the complete part number for the exact firearm and slide configuration.

A generic “fits Glock” or “fits SIG” title is not enough. Before buying, check the manufacturer’s current fitment information, whether the package contains a complete set or a front sight only, and whether an optic-ready slide changes compatibility. Have a qualified gunsmith confirm the match and handle installation.

What is TFX Pro?

TRUGLO’s TFX Pro product page describes a steel sight assembly with protected tritium/fiber-optic elements and its Fortress Finish protective coating. The tritium illumination does not need batteries or prior exposure to a light source. That should not be confused with phosphorescent sight paint, which is a different product category.

Those are manufacturer specifications, not a claim that we have tested impact resistance, brightness or service life. Words such as “indestructible” and guarantees about performance in every condition are not useful substitutes for checking compatibility, condition and warranty terms.

A verified example: TG13GL1PC for specified non-MOS Glock models

The exact Amazon listing below identifies manufacturer part TG13GL1PC, UPC 788130022511, supplied as one set. TRUGLO calls this its Glock “low” TFX Pro option, with an orange front ring and U-shaped rear notch.

The manufacturer’s Glock low-sight page lists models 17/17L, 19, 19X, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 33, 34, 35, 38, 39 and 45, and explicitly excludes MOS pistols. Treat that as the published model list, not permission to extrapolate to every generation, aftermarket slide or similarly named model. Confirm any configuration that the page does not clearly resolve.

This example is not a universal recommendation. If you have a different model, choose its documented part instead of ordering this set because it shares a product page or photograph with another option. Check the selected variant and part number again in the basket. The linked listing establishes identity; it does not establish a current seller, stock level or price.

TFX Pro, TFX, TFO and Tritium Pro are different lines

  • TFX Pro: combines tritium and fiber optics. The Glock low example above has the orange front ring and U-shaped rear notch.
  • TFX: TRUGLO’s corresponding TG13GL1A Glock low model has a white front ring and square rear notch.
  • TFO: also combines tritium and fiber optics, but is a separate product line with different part numbers and construction.
  • Tritium Pro: a separate tritium line. Similar naming does not make its parts, dimensions or optic compatibility interchangeable with TFX Pro.
  • Fiber-optic-only sights: another category, rather than a less expensive package of the same tritium product.

Use TRUGLO’s handgun chart as a starting point, then confirm the current product page and model-specific guidance. A review discussing a different line can help explain terminology but cannot establish fit for the part you intend to purchase.

Optic-ready and red-dot compatibility

TRUGLO states that its TFX and TFO series cannot be used together with a red-dot optic because their length leaves insufficient mounting space. That limitation is explained in its optic compatibility FAQ. Do not assume that removing an optic from an optic-ready slide makes an otherwise excluded sight set compatible.

“Standard height,” “suppressor height,” “MOS compatible” and “Pro” describe different attributes. For example, the manufacturer’s TFX suppressor-height page also excludes Glock MOS use. A taller sight alone does not solve every mounting or clearance question. Discuss the complete configuration with the manufacturer or gunsmith before ordering rather than trying to adapt an incompatible part.

Check what the package actually includes

A product-family page can show several sights even when one variation supplies fewer components. TRUGLO specifically identifies TG13BR1PC and TG13SJ1PC as front-sight-only items on the TFX Pro page. Other fitments should be checked individually.

When comparing listings, note:

  • The full manufacturer part number, including its suffix
  • The exact firearm and slide configuration named by the manufacturer
  • Front-only versus front-and-rear contents
  • Any separate installation or professional-service cost
  • Seller identity, return restrictions and the receipt needed for warranty support

A lower headline price may simply describe a different package or fitment. Do not compare it as though every option in the same listing contains the same parts.

Brightness, age and warranty

In its illumination FAQ, TRUGLO explains that the fiber-optic component gathers ambient light, while tritium supplies illumination in darkness. Tritium gradually dims with age. A photograph taken with an unknown exposure is therefore a poor way to compare actual brightness or diagnose a fault.

The U.S. handgun-sight warranty covers original defects for 12 years from manufacture, subject to its terms, and requires the original purchaser’s proof of purchase. Normal tritium dimming is excluded. The date the package was purchased is not necessarily the date the sight was manufactured, which matters when evaluating old stock or secondhand items.

The same warranty requires professional installation and restricts servicing of tritium-containing components. Do not open, modify or attempt to repair the illumination capsules. For a broken or non-illuminating component, contact TRUGLO for assessment and service instructions. Outside the U.S., review the international warranty guidance with the retailer before purchase.

Buying checklist

Identify the firearm and slide precisely, verify the complete sight part number against primary documentation, and get any ambiguity resolved before ordering. Keep the receipt and packaging until the item has been professionally checked. If a listing’s title, selected variant and manufacturer number disagree, pause rather than choosing whichever field looks most convenient.

For the TG13GL1PC example, the key facts are the documented non-MOS fitment, one-set contents and orange-ring TFX Pro configuration. For any other firearm, the correct purchase starts with its own manufacturer-confirmed match. A familiar brand name or similar photograph is never a replacement for that check.
