11.2-24 Tractor Tires: Exact Sizes and Fit Checks

Generic agricultural tractor rear tire with angled traction lugs.

Compare two documented 11.2-24 agricultural tires and check exact parts, tube requirements, rim fit and front-to-rear rolling circumference.

An 11.2-24 tractor tire is an agricultural tire for a 24-inch rim. A search written as “11.2 x24” should still lead to that exact size, rather than a 24-inch-tall lawn-mower tire, a smaller front tire or an inner tube. The replacement also needs the correct construction, load rating and wheel fitment for the tractor.

Two identifiable options are the Carlisle CSL24 6A05952, a 6-ply-rated tube-type tire, and the Carlstar Farm Specialist 6X17353, an 8-ply-rated tubeless tire. Their shared nominal size does not make them interchangeable on every machine. Use the exact part numbers and have an agricultural tire dealer verify the application before ordering.

Two actual 11.2-24 tractor tires to compare

  • Carlisle CSL24, 6A05952: 11.2-24, 6-ply rating, tube type, agricultural R-1 tread. A candidate when the tractor’s approved specification calls for this tube-type configuration.
  • Carlstar Farm Specialist, 6X17353: 11.2-24, 8-ply rating, tubeless. A candidate when the machine and wheel are approved for its load, dimensions and tubeless installation.

These are individual tires. Budget separately for installation and any required tube, valve, wheel repair or ballast service. A product photograph showing a tire on a wheel is not proof that the wheel comes with the order.

Carlisle CSL24 6A05952: the 6-ply tube-type option

The selected listing identifies 6A05952 as the 11.2-24, load-range-C/6-ply version. Although its Amazon title includes “Lawn & Garden,” the manufacturer’s data book places the CSL24 in the agricultural category and describes a bias R-1 design for tractors, sprayers and harvesters.

The Carlisle manufacturer data book, hosted by U.S. AutoForce, lists this exact part as TT, or tube type. Its published mounted diameter is 43.50 inches, section width is 11.18 inches and rolling circumference is 130 inches. The neighboring 8-ply CSL24 is part 6A05962; its specifications must not be assigned to the 6-ply tire.

What to check: the listing is tire-only and expressly excludes the rim. Confirm tube requirements and what the seller includes before ordering. Some marketplace specification fields conflict with the manufacturer’s table, so ask the dealer to verify the exact sidewall and service rating rather than accepting an automatically populated load-index field.

Carlstar Farm Specialist 6X17353: the tubeless alternative

Carlstar’s own catalog identifies 6X17353 under Farm Specialist TB. Retailers may call that same part Farm Specialist R-1. Matching the exact manufacturer code matters more than choosing between those two retail names.

The manufacturer’s Farm Specialist TB specifications identify 6X17353 as an 8-ply-rated, tubeless tire. Published dimensions include an 11.2-inch mounted width, 43.5-inch diameter and 128-inch rolling circumference. Carlstar describes the design as using curved, multi-angle lug bars for compact utility tractor applications.

What to check: use the manufacturer’s page and a dealer quote for this comparison. The Amazon listing inspected for this part has a main photograph visibly marked 9.5-16 despite its 11.2-24 title, so it is not included as a purchase card here. Confirm the actual supplied size and load/service rating with the dealer. Carlstar’s product table also notes that this part may remain Carlisle branded.

Understand the size before buying

The 11.2 figure is the nominal section-width designation; 24 identifies the rim diameter. It does not mean that the entire tire is 24 inches tall. Both examples above have a published overall diameter around 43.5 inches when mounted under the specified measuring conditions.

Read the complete existing sidewall and the tractor manual. An 11.2-28 tire needs a different rim diameter. A 24×12.00-12 lawn tire uses a different sizing format and a 12-inch rim. Likewise, an inner tube advertised for both 11.2-24 and 12.4-24 is an accessory with a fitment range, not evidence that those two tire sizes can replace each other.

Record the tractor model, axle position, existing tire make and pattern, complete size, construction and service markings. Add clear photographs of the sidewall and wheel markings to your dealer inquiry. This is more useful than asking whether a listing fits “a small tractor.”

Check rolling circumference on four-wheel-drive tractors

The two tires above illustrate an important distinction: their published overall diameters are nearly identical, while their rolling circumferences differ. Diameter alone cannot settle a replacement decision on a mechanical-front-wheel-drive tractor.

Firestone explains that the tractor’s axle ratio and the tires’ effective rolling circumferences determine front-to-rear lead. Changes in brand, construction, wear, load or pressure can alter that relationship. Even a new tire bearing the old nominal size deserves a compatibility check. See Firestone’s explanation of agricultural tire lead ratio.

Give the dealer details for both axles, including the tires that will remain on the machine. Ask whether replacing one tire, a matched axle pair or a different approved combination is appropriate. Do not rely on a review from an owner of a vaguely similar tractor to settle this question.

Tube type, load rating and installation

TT and TL describe different installation requirements. The CSL24 selected here is tube type; the Farm Specialist is cataloged as tubeless. A tubeless designation does not establish that your existing wheel is suitable or in serviceable condition. Have the installer inspect the rim and select the appropriate tube or valve arrangement.

Ply rating is only part of the specification. The replacement must support the actual load at the intended pressure and speed. Loader work, implements and ballast can change the operating load, so a generic “6-ply versus 8-ply” rule is not an adequate recommendation. Use the tractor’s instructions and the tire manufacturer’s load/inflation table for the exact tire.

Titan’s wheel and tire safety guidance recommends trained professionals for tire and wheel service. Arrange agricultural-tire installation rather than treating a large tractor tire like a small handcart tire. Include any liquid-ballast handling and damaged-rim assessment in the quote.

Before you place the order

  1. Have the dealer approve the exact tire part number for the tractor and axle.
  2. Verify size, construction, load/service rating, rim requirements and TT/TL marking.
  3. For driven front and rear axles, verify the intended tire combination and rolling circumference.
  4. Confirm quantity and whether the order includes any tubes, valves or wheels.
  5. Compare the delivered-and-installed cost and the seller’s return terms for an unmounted tire.

The useful choice is the tire that matches your approved setup. The CSL24 6A05952 is the clearly identified 6-ply tube-type option here; the Farm Specialist 6X17353 is the clearly identified 8-ply tubeless alternative. Neither should be ordered solely because “11.2-24” appears in the title.
