Check Panasonic NN-SD745S specifications, countertop clearances, compatible trim kits, replacement tray parts and used-microwave buying precautions.

The Panasonic NN-SD745S is a discontinued household microwave. If you already own one, the useful questions are which manual and replacement parts fit, how much installation space it needs, and whether a repair still makes sense. If you are shopping for one, confirm the complete model number and condition before comparing it with newer Panasonic ovens.

Panasonic’s NN-SD745S support page identifies it as a 2016 model and marks it discontinued. A listing for an NN-SN745S, NN-SD775S or NN-SD945S is a different oven, even when the name, finish or headline wattage looks similar.

Panasonic NN-SD745S specifications that matter

The official NN-SD745S/NN-SD945S owner’s manual covers both sizes. Use the NN-SD745S entries when a table splits by model.

Item NN-SD745S information
Rated cooking output 1,250 watts, measured under the stated IEC procedure
Electrical consumption 1,460 watts / 12.3 amps
Power supply 120 volts, 60 Hz
Outside dimensions in the manual 21⅞ inches wide × 11¹⁵⁄₁₆ inches high × 19¹⁵⁄₁₆ inches deep
Cavity dimensions 16⁷⁄₁₆ inches wide × 9 inches high × 18½ inches deep
Approximate net weight in the manual 31.5 pounds

The 1,250-watt figure describes cooking output; it is not the number to use when planning the electrical supply. Likewise, cavity dimensions describe the oven interior, not the largest dish that will rotate freely inside it. Check your own casserole dish, including handles, against the available turntable space.

Check the depth before committing to a cabinet. Panasonic’s dimension comparison identifies a 1.6-cubic-foot cavity but lists a shallower external depth of 19⁷⁄₁₆ inches and a 31-pound weight. Those figures differ from the model manual. Measure the actual appliance and have Panasonic confirm the applicable specification; do not cut cabinetry around the smaller number.

Countertop placement and electrical requirements

For this model, the manual specifies a flat, stable surface, 3 inches of space on each side and 1 inch above. Position the door’s front surface at least 3 inches back from the countertop edge. Keep ventilation openings clear. These are countertop instructions, not authorization to enclose the oven in an improvised cabinet.

Panasonic’s general countertop placement guidance explicitly sends owners to their model’s instructions. Allow room to open the door, lift a hot dish safely and reach the plug. Keep the appliance away from a sink, active cooking surface and combustible clutter.

The manufacturer’s electrical connection guidance specifically includes NN-SD745 among models requiring at least a 20-amp, 120-volt, 60-Hz grounded outlet and a separate circuit. Do not remove the grounding pin or use a two-prong adapter. Have a qualified electrician check an unsuitable outlet or repeatedly tripping circuit. A physically matching plug does not establish that the whole circuit meets the appliance’s requirements.

Which trim kit fits the NN-SD745S?

Use Panasonic’s U.S. trim-kit finder, selecting the complete NN-SD745S model. It lists these options:

  • 27-inch trim: NN-TK722SS and NN-TK72LSS
  • 30-inch trim: NN-TK732SS and NN-TK73LSS

The 27- or 30-inch number describes the trim’s outside width, not the microwave’s width or a universal opening. The listed nominal cabinet openings are 25½ inches wide for the 27-inch trim and 28½ inches for the 30-inch trim, with a 15⁵⁄₁₆-inch height and 21-inch depth. Use the selected kit’s installation manual for tolerances, ventilation, positioning and supplied hardware before ordering or cutting anything.

A trim face alone is not a complete installation package. Ask the seller to identify the exact kit suffix and show every included bracket, duct, rail and fastener against its parts list. Do not borrow instructions from a different kit merely because the visible stainless frame looks similar.

NN-TK922SS, NN-TK621SS and NN-TK623GS should not be substituted on the strength of the Panasonic brand name. The manufacturer’s NN-SD745S fit list above is the relevant starting point. An oven-and-trim bundle for another model also does not establish compatibility with your existing cabinet.

Glass tray and roller ring: match the part number

The model manual lists A06014A00AP as the NN-SD745S glass tray and F290D9R00AP as its roller-ring assembly. The larger NN-SD945S uses different numbers. Have the authorized parts supplier verify any superseding number against your complete model and serial label.

Diameter alone is an inadequate parts check. The center engagement, ring support and model application matter. In particular, a listing for tray 243019000016 that names NN-SD69LS is not evidence of NN-SD745S fit. Do not run the oven with a missing, cracked or improvised tray. The correct tray and ring are a matched part of normal operation.

Using the controls without confusing similar models

The NN-SD745S support hub links instructions for sensor cooking, Turbo Defrost, the timer and Keep Warm. For button sequences, keep the model manual nearby instead of following a video for a newer touch panel. Shared branding such as “Genius Sensor” does not mean every Panasonic has the same menus.

The model’s child safety lock prevents electronic operation; it does not physically lock the door. Panasonic’s model-specific lock guide distinguishes older control locks from newer door-lock systems. Adult supervision and safe placement of hot food remain necessary.

Automatic programs also do not remove the need to check food. For leftovers, USDA recommends reaching 165°F, stirring or rotating as appropriate and checking several places with a food thermometer. Follow the required standing time, use a vented microwave-safe cover, and take care when uncovering hot steam. See USDA’s reheating guidance.

When to troubleshoot, and when to stop using it

If the oven does not heat, first review the settings and any displayed message against Panasonic’s no-heat troubleshooting page. Demo mode, an unfinished program or a door that has not closed correctly calls for a different response from an internal fault. Record the exact symptom and error code before arranging service.

Do not remove the outer cabinet, bridge a door switch, replace internal high-voltage components yourself or attempt to prove that a faulty oven is safe by running it repeatedly. Use Panasonic’s service route for internal faults. A fault code is information for diagnosis, not a parts-shopping instruction.

The FDA advises against using a microwave with a damaged door, hinge, latch or seal, or a door that does not close firmly. Stop using an oven that appears to operate with its door open. Clean food residue from accessible cavity and door surfaces with mild detergent and avoid abrasive pads; cleaning cannot repair a damaged sealing surface.

Buying a used unit or choosing a replacement

A used NN-SD745S is worth considering only after its condition, completeness and total cost are clear. Ask for a readable model-label photo, the appliance’s service history, photos of the door and cavity, and confirmation that the correct tray and ring are present. Check the seller’s return arrangements before paying. An original warranty period shown on a support page does not establish coverage for a particular secondhand sale.

Compare the delivered price plus any missing parts and professional service with the cost of a supported replacement. For a countertop installation, shortlist by usable dish space, control layout and installation clearance. For an existing built-in opening, verify the new oven and its own trim kit together; keeping the same brand is insufficient.

Before buying used equipment, check the exact model against CPSC recalls and Panasonic notices. The 2026 Panasonic NB-G200 recall concerns an electric toaster oven, a different product from NN-SD745S. Neither that notice nor the absence of an exact search result is a safety certification for a used microwave.

Quick answers

Is the NN-SD745S still a current Panasonic model?

No. Panasonic marks it discontinued. That is why condition, parts support and seller terms matter more than an old “best microwave” ranking.

Can I install it above a range?

Do not treat it as an over-the-range microwave. Follow its household countertop or approved wall-cabinet trim-kit installation instructions, including restrictions around other cooking appliances.

Can another 1.6-cubic-foot Panasonic replace it in the same trim?

Not without an exact compatibility check. Capacity is only one specification; the chassis, ventilation and trim mounting can differ.
