Compare Lenovo Tab Plus, Galaxy Tab A9+ and iPad A16 for Spotify, including speakers, storage, headphones, offline downloads and app requirements.

The best tablet for Spotify depends on where the sound will come from. Choose the Lenovo Tab Plus for its speaker-focused hardware and built-in stand, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ for an everyday Android listening screen with expandable storage, or the iPad A16 if you want an iPad for music and other apps.

All three choices below are Wi-Fi models. Compare storage, speaker layout and headphone connections before paying for features you will not use. Spotify music downloads require Premium; buying a tablet does not include a Spotify subscription.

1. Lenovo Tab Plus: best for speaker-first listening

The Tab Plus puts eight JBL speakers and an integrated kickstand into an 11.5-inch tablet. The selected US model, ZADX0081US, has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It is the strongest fit here for a tablet that will spend much of its time playing on a desk or side table.

Pros: a built-in stand, a 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack and a microSD slot. Cons: its approximately 650g weight makes it a less attractive handheld choice if portability matters most. Speaker count is a useful design detail, but it does not establish a measured sound-quality advantage.

Lenovo also describes a Bluetooth speaker mode that lets the tablet play audio from a separate device, such as a phone. That is a hardware feature separate from Spotify Connect. Use the Spotify app on the tablet when you want to browse and play there directly.

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+: best simple Android listening screen

The selected Galaxy Tab A9+ is the US Wi-Fi model SM-X210NZAAXAR with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. Its 11-inch screen and four-speaker layout make it a practical candidate for browsing playlists around the house. It is also a reasonable choice when a compatible external speaker handles playback and the tablet mainly acts as the controller.

Pros: four built-in speakers and microSD expansion up to 1TB. Cons: 64GB is the smallest internal capacity in this comparison, and some is occupied by existing content. A memory card is sold separately, so include it in the total if you plan a large offline library.

Spotify’s Android storage guidance allows downloads on an external SD card when the card is available and accessible. Do not assume that every app automatically uses the card, or that installing one changes Spotify’s subscription requirements.

3. Apple iPad A16: best for an iPad-based setup

The selected iPad A16 is the pink 128GB Wi-Fi configuration, model MD4E4LL/A. Apple lists landscape stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.3 and a USB-C port. Choose it when you want an iPad for everyday apps alongside Spotify and are comfortable managing downloads within its built-in storage.

Pros: stereo speakers in landscape orientation and USB-C audio options. Cons: ordinary 3.5mm headphones need a suitable USB-C adapter. Apple supports USB-C headphones and audio devices, but check your exact accessory rather than assuming any cable or adapter will work.

The current US Spotify App Store listing requires iPadOS 16.1 or later. Check the installed system and available updates before buying a used or refurbished tablet; current app requirements matter more than a seller simply describing it as an iPad.

What matters more than processor speed

Spotify’s current support page lists Android 7.0 or newer; its iPad listing specifies iPadOS 16.1 or newer. The documented Android versions for these Lenovo and Samsung models exceed that Android minimum. Keep the app and system updated because support requirements can change.

For travel, plan downloads before leaving Wi-Fi. Spotify Premium supports downloaded albums and playlists, while the free service permits podcast downloads. Spotify says to reconnect at least every 30 days to keep downloads and limits them to 10,000 tracks on each of up to five devices. Those are service limits, not a promise that every tablet has room for that library.

Spotify recommends at least 1GB of free device space for its cache and downloads. A large offline library needs additional room. The selected internal capacities are 64GB for Samsung, 128GB for iPad and 256GB for Lenovo, so compare available space after your other apps and files.

If you already have a compatible Spotify Connect speaker, choose the tablet for its screen, storage and other uses. Spotify Connect lets one device control playback on another; Spotify says the devices must share Wi-Fi for the first speaker connection. Verify the speaker’s compatibility before buying.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Premium to listen on a tablet?

Premium is required for offline music downloads. Spotify’s free service allows podcast downloads. Check the features of your account rather than assuming the tablet purchase adds a paid plan.

Can a Wi-Fi tablet play music away from Wi-Fi?

Yes, downloaded content can play when the internet is unavailable. Download the content beforehand and meet Spotify’s account and periodic reconnection requirements.

Can Spotify downloads use a microSD card?

On Android, Spotify supports an available, accessible external SD card for downloads and recommends at least 1GB free on that card. Both selected Android tablets have microSD slots.

Will more speakers always sound better?

No speaker-count specification establishes that conclusion by itself. Lenovo lists eight speakers, Samsung four and Apple landscape stereo; choose the layout and connections that suit your use, and audition the sound if that is your deciding factor.

Can one account play different music on two tablets?

Spotify says each account can play on only one device at a time. Spotify Connect controls another device; it does not turn one account into multiple independent simultaneous listeners.
